people
who share
the nature
of the way
do not show off
their virtue,
and therefore
preserve it;
never act,
yet do all
people
who never,
ever wander
from the path,
being virtuous
end up
without virtue,
act,
and leave
much undone
benevolence
acts
without aim;
righteousness
acts
with
sly
purpose
propriety
acts
to show off
and when
no one
applauds,
rolls up
its fist
when
we lost
the way
we found
virtue
when
we lost
virtue
we developed
benevolence
when
we lost
benevolence
we invented
right action
when
we lost
righteousness
we held onto
convention
convention
acts
as a patch
on

broken
loyalty--
the start
of chaos
planning
is
a flower
beautifying
the way--
first
scent
of foolishness
the wise,
discarding
the flower
as too intense,
stay
with
the solid
fruit
